If you want to sell a product to customers. If you want to sell a project to stakeholders. If you’re asked to celebrate a birth or a wedding, or to honour the life of someone you loved, you need to speak and to speak well.
At Harbourview Toastmasters we work as a team to improve our public speaking. To help people enjoy standing in front of an audience, to entertain, to educate, to influence and to convince.
It's a simple process - but incredibly powerful. By giving a series of speeches you practise a range of speaking skills: everything from body language, to speaking off the cuff, to speech structure.
You practice in front of an audience of people working through exactly the same process. They provide friendly but insightful evaluations that enable you to fine tune your skills in a safe environment and, working at your own pace, improve every aspect of your public speaking.
But Harbourview Toastmasters is not some sterile talkfest. It’s not just about speaking – there’s a lot of laughing too. And you get to share in the life experiences, ideas and emotions of people from wildly different backgrounds, countries and jobs.
Toastmasters is about speaking, listening and learning. About friendships built on a shared joy in expressing who you are and what you care about.
It will help you get a job, keep a job, get a promotion. Most importantly, it will make you a more interesting person.
